Elective Thesis
|
This elective thesis looked at potentials of differentiated interlocking systems in conjunction with digital fabrication methods. The students' investigations focused on the definition of additive design strategies to form flat ceiling structures from small-scale modules. In this process, the mutual relationship between constructive logic and design parameters gained a central role. Prototypes were produced in EPS foam using a hot-wire cutting technique using an industrial robot arm. As a result, the findings of the 4 week research workshop were translated into 3 experimental ceiling structures with spans of up to 3m.
