Elective Course
|
During the elective course prototypes for the new outdoor furniture of the “Science City” campus have been developed. Through additive layering of foam blocks with variable length and differing hardness it was possible to address functional requirements such as seating comfort, weight and stability. Foam was the ideal material to meet the differing requirements portability of large sized furniture pieces and durability. The material was organized within a three dimensional spatial grid that allowed the following production of 1:1 test pieces with our robotic fabrication facility. The expertise developed during the semester formed the basis for the development of a new seating unit.
