BrickDesign, 2011-2012
Designsoftware for a vast amount of discrete Elements
The aim of the project is to develop a powerful software package that enables architects, planners and engineers to design with a large set of discrete elements. Thereby, BrickDesign allows to fully exploit the design potential inherent in novel and innovative robotic fabrication processes. On that basis, computer-controlled fabrication allows the realization of highly informed building elements in an economic and efficient order. Applied to brickwork, the robot allows to individually position each brick and shows that novel fabrication technologies require novel design tools. Against this background, BrickDesign capitalizes with a refined and powerful software package on all these potentials and bring them directly into planning practice.
