Francesco Milano is an architect and computational designer, currently working as PhD researcher at Gramazio Kohler Research at ETH Zurich. He was born in Alba (Italy) and he graduated in Architecture with a double diploma from IUAV University of Venice and Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires. During and after his studies, he worked as an architect in Italy (tra.to.it), the Netherlands (b-o-a-r-d.nl) and Brazil (aflalogasperini.com.br). From 2013 to 2018, he settled in Buenos Aires, where he founded and directed TaMaCo (chela.org.ar), an independent digital design and fabrication lab. In Argentina, he worked at different universities such as the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and collaborated with several young local firms (e.g. a77, ADLF CoDe). In 2018, he moved to Stuttgart, where he attended the ITECH M.Sc. and worked at Knippers Helbig Advanced Engineering. In 2023, he joined Gramazio Kohler Research, where he led a research project on large-scale 3D printing, building facades, and recycled polymers.
