Jonas is a roboticist and mechatronics engineer. He has a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering (Mechatronics) from UAS Zurich. During and after his studies, he worked as an engineer and research assistant at The University of Tokyo and ETH Zurich. From 2012, he spent 3 years in Japan working as a research engineer at Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International in Kyoto. Among other projects, there he developed an open-source middleware for cloud-based robotic services and a new mobile robot platform for research in 3D and audio mapping. Before 2015, Jonas contributed to R&D projects for Varian Medical Systems, Projectina, Mesa Imaging, Honda and Panasonic. His professional interests include mechatronic design of autonomous systems, mobile manipulation and robotic automation in architecture and construction.
